Institute for Standardization of Moldova has taken another step in implementing information technologies in the field of standardization by publishing today the first Moldovan standard in XML format - SM 154:2017 Guidelines on the Application of the Sectoral Law on Sparkling Wines.

In order to make possible publishing Moldovan standards in XML format, was developed the tag vocabulary, the rules for using the document's elements, the attributes and allowed values were defined. The tags, the attributes and the values are harmonised with the ISO Standards Tag Set (ISOSTS), a set of tags developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a meta-text markup language and is considered a modern way to encode and display documents. All ISO standards are also published in XML format.

Publishing in the new format will allow a more accessible, easier and more flexible use of standards content, XML format giving users the possibility to represent and view the content independently of application.

Starting from this year, ISM will publish all future original Moldovan standards, including in XML format.
